At a roundabout, a cyclist ahead stays in the left-hand lane but signals right to keep going round. What should you do?

  • Overtake them on the right immediately
  • Give them room and let them stay in the left lane as they go round
    Correct
  • Force them into the correct lane with your horn
  • Cut across in front to take your exit

Why?

Rule 187 of The Highway Code says to watch for cyclists, motorcyclists and horse riders who may stay in the left-hand lane and signal right if they intend to continue around the roundabout. Allow them to do so and give them plenty of room.
