On a wet road, how should you change the gap between you and the vehicle in front?
- At least double itCorrect
- Keep the same gap as in dry weather
- Reduce it to stay in touch with the traffic
- It makes no difference in the wet
Why?
Rule 126 of The Highway Code says wet roads roughly double your stopping distance, so leave at least twice the gap you would in the dry. This gives you room to stop if the vehicle ahead slows or stops suddenly.
