Vehicle handling
You are driving in thick fog. Which statement should guide your speed?
- Fog makes you feel faster than you are, so you can speed up
- Keep up with the vehicle ahead whatever its speed
- You may be going faster than it feels, so check your speedometer and be able to stop in the distance you can seeCorrect
- Speed does not matter once your lights are on
Why?
Rule 235 of The Highway Code says that in fog you should slow down and be able to pull up well within the distance you can see to be clear. Fog can make you underestimate your speed, so check your speedometer and keep well back.
