Vulnerable road users

There is a cycle lane on your left marked by a solid white line. When may you drive or park in it?

  • Whenever no cyclist is currently using it
  • Not during the times it is in operation
    Correct
  • At any time, as the line is only guidance
  • Only when you are turning left

Why?

A solid white line marks a mandatory cycle lane that keeps cyclists safe. Rule 140 of The Highway Code says you MUST NOT drive or park in a cycle lane marked by a solid white line during its hours of operation.
