You want to overtake a cyclist on a road where you are travelling at up to 30 mph. How much room should you give?

Why?
Cyclists can wobble or move out to avoid a drain or pothole, so they need space. Rule 163 of The Highway Code says you should leave at least 1.5 metres when overtaking a cyclist at speeds up to 30 mph, and give even more room at higher speeds. Wait behind if you cannot leave enough space.
