Another driver flashes their headlights at you. According to The Highway Code, what does this signal mean?

  • They are letting you know they are there
    Correct
  • They are giving you priority to go
  • They are thanking you
  • They are warning you to stop

Why?

Rules 110 and 111 of The Highway Code say that flashing your headlights has only one meaning: to let other road users know you are there. Never assume it means you have priority or that the road is clear, and always check for yourself before moving.
