Attitude

A driver pulls out of a side road into your path, making you slow down. How should you respond?

  • Slow down, hold back and let them get clear
    Correct
  • Drive close behind them to show your annoyance
  • Flash your headlights and sound your horn together
  • Overtake straight away, whatever the road ahead

Why?

Rule 147 says that if a road user pulls out into your path, you should slow down and hold back to let them get clear, and not over-react by driving too close behind to intimidate them. Everyone makes mistakes, and tailgating an anxious driver only adds risk.
