Attitude

Another driver cuts in front of you carelessly. What is the safest attitude to take?

  • Sound your horn repeatedly to show your anger
  • Move up close behind them to make your point
  • Stay calm, hold back and let the incident go
    Correct
  • Overtake them and brake to teach them a lesson

Why?

Rule 147 of The Highway Code says you should be patient and not allow yourself to become agitated by another road user's behaviour. Reacting angrily or trying to 'get back' at them only makes things more dangerous; stay calm, keep your distance and let it go.
