Attitude

While driving in a town, a bus ahead signals to move off from its stop. What should you do?

  • Sound your horn to tell the bus to wait
  • Overtake the bus quickly before it moves
  • Give way to the bus if you can do so safely
    Correct
  • Flash your headlights to tell the bus to stay

Why?

Rule 223 of The Highway Code says you should give priority to buses when you can do so safely, especially when they signal to pull away from a bus stop. Slow down and let the bus rejoin the traffic.
