The fog has cleared and visibility is good again, but your rear fog lights are still switched on. What should you do?
- Keep them on in case the fog returns later
- Leave them on so you are always easier to see
- Switch to full beam headlights instead
- Switch the fog lights off so you do not dazzle othersCorrect
Why?
Rule 226 of The Highway Code says you MUST switch fog lights off when visibility improves. Bright rear fog lights left on can dazzle the drivers behind you and mask your brake lights, which is inconsiderate and unsafe.
