Attitude
The car in front is slowing down as it nears a pedestrian crossing, and you are getting impatient. What should you do?
- Overtake it quickly before you reach the crossing
- Pull out to see past it and keep your speed up
- Stay behind and do not overtake near the crossingCorrect
- Sound your horn to make it speed up again
Why?
Rule 167 of The Highway Code says you should not overtake on the approach to a crossing, and Rule 191 says you MUST NOT overtake the vehicle nearest a crossing. A vehicle slowing there may be stopping for someone you cannot yet see.
Highway Code rules 167, 191
