Attitude

You are following a driving-school car with dual controls that stalls and restarts slowly on a hill. What is the best attitude?

  • Be patient and give the learner plenty of time
    Correct
  • Sound your horn to make the instructor move on
  • Drive close behind to hurry the car along
  • Overtake at once, even where there is little room

Why?

Rule 147 of The Highway Code asks you to be understanding and patient, as other drivers may be inexperienced. A learner in a dual-control car is still practising, so hold back and give them time and space rather than pressuring them.
