Attitude

You are about to overtake a cyclist on a windy, wet day. How should the weather change the way you pass?

  • Pass closer than usual to spend less time alongside
  • Give them even more room than you normally would
    Correct
  • Overtake faster so the wind affects you less
  • Expect the cyclist to hold a perfectly straight line

Why?

Rule 212 of The Highway Code says give motorcyclists and cyclists at least as much room as a car, and take extra care and give more space in bad weather, including high winds. Wind and wet surfaces can push a cyclist off their line.
