Attitude

You are approaching a road junction and want to overtake, but doing so would make an oncoming driver slow down. What should you do?

  • Overtake anyway, since you signalled first
  • Overtake and rely on the other driver to brake
  • Sound your horn and complete the overtake
  • Hold back and do not overtake at the junction
    Correct

Why?

Rule 167 of The Highway Code says do not overtake where you might come into conflict with other road users, such as approaching a junction or where you would force another road user to slow down or swerve. Wait for a safe, clear stretch of road.
