You hold a full category B (car) driving licence. What are you generally allowed to drive?
- A vehicle up to 3,500 kg with up to 8 passenger seatsCorrect
- Any lorry weighing up to 7,500 kg
- A bus with more than 16 passenger seats
- A motorcycle of any engine size
Why?
A standard car licence is category B. It lets you drive a vehicle with a maximum authorised mass up to 3,500 kg and with up to 8 passenger seats. Larger lorries and buses need extra licence categories. Your driving licence must show the correct category, as covered in Annex 3 of The Highway Code.
