How often must you normally renew the photograph on a photocard driving licence?

  • Every 2 years
  • Every 5 years
  • Every 10 years
    Correct
  • Only once, when you first pass your test

Why?

The photo on a photocard driving licence must be renewed every 10 years so it stays a good likeness of you. The DVLA sends a reminder before it runs out. Keeping your driving licence valid and up to date is part of the document rules in Annex 3 of The Highway Code.
