A friend asks you to drive their car. What must you check before you drive it?
- That you are insured to drive that particular carCorrect
- That the car is less than five years old
- That your friend is sitting next to you
- Only that the fuel tank is full
Why?
You must be insured to drive any car you use on the road. Your own policy may not automatically cover other people's cars, so you must check you are named or otherwise insured on a policy for that vehicle before driving it. Insurance is a legal requirement in Annex 3 of The Highway Code.
