Hazard awareness
You are passing a line of parked cars and notice a driver sitting in one of them. What should you anticipate?
- A door could open suddenly into your pathCorrect
- The car will certainly stay still
- The driver will wave you past safely
- Your view of the road signs will improve
Why?
Rule 239 of The Highway Code treats an opening door as a danger to passing traffic, and Rule 146 says anticipate the unexpected. Someone sitting in a parked car may open a door into your path, so leave room and be ready to slow.
