Motorway rules
You have just joined the motorway from the slip road. What should you normally do next?
- Stay in the left-hand lane until you have got used to the speed of the trafficCorrect

Why?
You need time to settle into the flow of fast traffic. Rule 259 of The Highway Code says that after joining you should stay in the left-hand lane long enough to adjust to the speed of the traffic before you think about overtaking or moving across lanes.
