What does this sign mean?
- There is a 30-minute waiting limit here
- The maximum speed you may drive is 30 mphCorrect
- The minimum speed is 30 mph
- A hazard is 30 metres ahead
Why?
A red ring around a number is a prohibition: it sets the maximum speed you must not go above, here 30 mph. You will often see this limit on street-lit roads in towns. Rule 124 of The Highway Code lists 30 mph as the usual limit on restricted roads with street lighting.
