You are parking at night on a road with a speed limit of 40 mph. What must you do?

Nothing extra is needed at 40 mph
Leave your parking (side) lights on
Correct
Leave your headlights on full beam
Park facing against the traffic flow

Why?

Rule 249 of The Highway Code says all vehicles must display parking lights when parked on a road, or a lay-by, with a speed limit greater than 30 mph. A 40 mph road is over that limit, so you must leave your parking lights on so others can see you.
