Why should you check that your engine coolant has the right amount of anti-freeze before winter?
- Because anti-freeze makes the engine run faster
- Because it stops the coolant freezing and damaging the engine in cold weatherCorrect
- Because it improves the car's paintwork
- Because it is only needed to clean the windscreen
Why?
Coolant with enough anti-freeze will not freeze and crack the engine or radiator when it is very cold. Annex 6 of The Highway Code includes keeping fluid levels such as coolant correct, so check the anti-freeze strength before winter.
