Alertness

How should you best prepare for a long journey to reduce the risk of becoming tired?

  • Drink several energy drinks before you leave
  • Get enough sleep beforehand and plan rest stops into your route
    Correct
  • Set off very early so you can arrive before you get tired
  • Plan to drive straight through without stopping

Why?

Tiredness is easier to prevent than to cure once you are driving, so good preparation matters. Rule 91 of The Highway Code says you should get sufficient sleep before a long journey and plan your route to include sufficient breaks.
