You are driving along a country road at night. Why should you be ready for animals in the road?
- Animals only ever appear during daylight
- Animals such as deer or sheep may be on unlit roads and are hard to seeCorrect
- Animals always move away from your headlights
- The Highway Code tells you to speed up past fields
Why?
Rule 214 of The Highway Code says when passing animals drive slowly, give them plenty of room and be ready to stop. On unlit country roads (Rule 154) animals can appear suddenly and are hard to see, so keep your speed down.
