On a country lane you meet a herd of cattle being driven along the road towards you. What should you do?
- Drive slowly through the middle of the herd
- Sound your horn to clear a path
- Rev your engine so they move faster
- Slow right down, give them room, be ready to stop, and keep quietCorrect
Why?
Rule 214 of The Highway Code says to drive slowly past animals, give them plenty of room and be ready to stop. Do not scare them by sounding your horn, revving your engine or accelerating, as startled animals can be dangerous.
