Safety and your vehicle
Annex 6 of the Highway Code says seat belts must be in what condition?
- Loosely fitted so they are comfortable
- Removed if the car has airbags
- In good working order so they hold you safely in a crashCorrect
- Tied in a knot to keep them short
Why?
A belt only protects you if it works properly. Annex 6 of The Highway Code lists seat belts among the safety items that must be in good working order, so check they fasten, hold and retract, and never cut, knot or disable them.
