How should a head restraint be adjusted to protect you best?
- So the top is at least as high as your eyes or earsCorrect
- As low as it will go behind your shoulders
- Removed completely for more comfort
- Tilted fully away from the back of your head
Why?
A correctly set head restraint reduces neck (whiplash) injury if you are hit from behind. Annex 6 of The Highway Code covers keeping safety equipment in order, so set the restraint with its top at least level with your eyes or ears, close to the back of your head.
