What should you check on a trailer's electrics before you set off?

  • That the car radio still works
  • That an interior light is on
  • That the brake lights and indicators work
    Correct
  • Nothing, trailers have no lights

Why?

Rule 98 of The Highway Code says the trailer must be roadworthy with working lights. Connect the electrics and check the brake lights, indicators and rear lights all work, so drivers behind can see when you brake or signal.
