You need to reverse a large caravan but can't see clearly behind it. What's the safest thing to do?

  • Reverse quickly to get it over with
  • Sound your horn and keep reversing
  • Ask someone to guide you
    Correct
  • Lean out of your door the whole time

Why?

Rule 202 of The Highway Code says if you cannot see clearly when reversing, get someone to guide you. A caravan makes it much harder to judge the direction it will swing, so a helper watching behind keeps everyone safe.
