Someone is injured in a collision and you could not show your insurance details at the scene. What must you do?
- Nothing at all, as long as you were not at fault
- Wait for the other driver to contact you first
- Report it only if the injury turns out to be serious
- Report it to the police within 24 hours and produce your insurance certificate within seven daysCorrect
Why?
Rules 286 and 287 of The Highway Code say that if someone is injured and you don't give your insurance details at the scene, you must report the collision to the police as soon as you can, and in any case within 24 hours, and produce your insurance certificate for the police within seven days.
